Sylvie Lapointe

Sylvie has university degrees in psychology and sociology, social work and is an organizational development specialist.

Sylvie is fluently bilingual. She is at ease teaching and facilitating in both French and English.

Having worked as a Federal Public Servant for over twelve years in both program delivery and human resources, Sylvie has first-hand knowledge of how government works and operates.

Sylvie has been a pioneer in the area of Learning Organization and Collective Leadership in the federal Public Service. As an Organizational and Community Learning Expert with the National Manager’s Community Secretariat from 2004 to 2006, Sylvie was a member of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to building the capacity of Public Service managers in modern management practices through training/networking events and the establishment of communities of practice across the Federal Government.

Under Sylvie’s leadership, the Learning Organization Community of Practice initiative (LO CoP) thrived in the Canadian Forest Service and expanded to other areas of NRCan as well as in other departments. Sylvie has been instrumental in introducing the LO CoP in the Public Service by training new LO CoP practitioners and trainers and through speaking engagements at national conferences

Sylvie is recognized as an expert in change management and leadership development and is solicited as a keynote speaker on these topics.

Over the last 20 years, Sylvie has trained thousands of Public Servants from more than 25 federal government departments in all regions of Canada in leadership skills, Learning Organization practices, facilitation skills and coaching tools.

She believes strongly that “Collective leadership supports a culture in which trusting relationships are valued and members of the organization experience a sense of self-empowerment.
