A Tree Meditation for the World
March 22, 2020
My name is Sylvie and my name means “from the forest”. Perhaps that is why I have always loved trees. My daughters will attest to this. I have countless pictures of me hugging a tree that were taken all over the world.
Today, as I was walking outside, I was trying to calm the tumult of my inner world struggling to appease the fear from COVID-19. I went for a walk outside and visited my favorite tree in our neighbourhood, I call her Mother Willow (and of course I hugged her ;). As I was admiring her strong trunk and long branches, I had an inspiration! I was reminded that trees are the lungs of planet Earth. And for the first time in a long time, they have a chance to take a deep cleansing breath.
Our lungs look just like the branches of a tree. I was inspired to do a meditation for the earth’s lungs and humanity’s lungs. As I looked at my favorite tree and saw its branches reaching up to the sun, to the light, I prayed that my lungs were as strong and healthy as the tree’s branches.
It is Spring and life is coursing through the trees. Buds are forming from which bright green leaves will soon emerge. I imagined that the bronchial tubes in my lungs were just like the branches of the trees around me, filled with vitality, reaching for the light. I took some deep breaths to anchor this mental image in my physical being. And then I transformed this image into an energetic image, picturing the lungs of my friends and loved ones vibrant with life. I enlarged this visualization to reach my community, my city, my province, my country and finally the word.
As change makers and light workers, I invite you to practice this visualization the next time you are out in nature. If we all come together, we can help heal the lungs of the world.
